The acoustics of a room influence the sound you hear from your speakers, which subsequently impacts how you adjust your mix. While this can be managed to some extent with traditional acoustic treatment, certain issues remain unresolved by acoustics alone. Trinnov have created a series of stereo and surround optimisers that utilise advanced DSP real-time processing to enhance the accuracy of your room’s sound through your speaker system. Trinnov DMON is the ultimate optimiser and monitor controller combination for up to 18 channels of optimisation. The MC Pro, on the other hand, is a pure room optimisation system designed to be used with an existing monitor control setup. It supports up to 16 channels analogue/AES (Pro) or 64 channels with Dante or MADI (HCC).

Trinnov Audio’s 3D microphone uses four mic capsules in a precise tetrahedral arrangement. Trinnov’s sophisticated algorithms rely not only on extremely accurate acoustic measurements but also on the ability to localise the speakers’ positions and to detect early reflections. Each capsule is individually calibrated at the factory (±0.1 dB from 20 Hz to 24 kHz). As each speaker is measured, the resulting sound waves pass through the array of microphones, hitting each one at a slightly different time. Based on this timing, Trinnov can triangulate the location of the speaker from which the sound arrived. By testing each speaker in turn, a three-dimensional map of where the speakers are relative to the mic (which is placed at the main listening position) is created.
