Each Vanguard microphone undergoes final assembly & inspection in sunny Southern California. Their products are precision-cast and machined from heavy-duty materials and each microphone goes through 100% quality-control in a series of stringent visual and audio tests. Stored in padded boxes and custom-designed carrying cases, your recording tool will be helping you make great music for years to come.

Tube, or “valve” microphones, are distinguished by their warm character, caused by natural compression which adds harmonics to the recorded signal. The V13 gen 2 is a prime example of these qualities whilst being one of the quietist tube microphones ever made. The FET design is known for its fast transient response and incredibly transparent image – both are qualities of the V4 gen 2 and V44s gen 2 models. Both designs have their own unique characteristics and it’s up to you which you like the most.

The Vanguard V13 gen 2 tube microphones have a phenomenal reputation for capturing vocals with a tone that often beats other highly regarded brands like Neumann in A/B listening tests. Equally the V4 gen 2 is an excellent choice for pure natural vocals. There is no right answer and ultimately you should experiment with different microphones to find what you prefer.
