The Voyage Audio Spatial Mic Dante Kit packages the immersive Dante microphone with a shock mount, windjammer, and cable all in a Peli case with bespoke laser cut foam – making it the most deployable immersive microphone on the market.

The Voyage Audio Spatial Mic Dante is a premium, 8 capsule microphone for capturing 3D audio which can be used for VR, Dolby ATMOS, concert recording, live broadcasts and more.

No need for complex multi-microphone & pre-amp setups, simply plug-in and record using built-in Dante audio networking.

Setup and Capture

Connect

Connect via ethernet cable to a standard IP network using off the shelf equipment you may already own. Use Dante Controller to easily route signals on the network.

Adjust

Adjust Dante microphones on the network with MicNet Control. Switch output modes for live streaming, adjust analog gain, orientation and much more.

Record

Record 8 calibrated channels from the capsule array into a computer using an ethernet port or build out a multi-channel system with additional Dante Interfaces.

MicNET Control

MicNet Control provides remote control of the analog stage and internal DSP processing of Spatial Mic Dante. Computers on the Dante network running MicNet Control can change the parameters of any microphone on the network.

MicNet Control can change the audio output format which is accomplished in the microphone itself via DSP. Output options include unprocessed (for Spatial Mic Converter Plugin), 1st order ambisonics, surround feeds and virtual mic mono or stereo pairs. These additional options beyond unprocessed audio open up many applications for live performance and broadcast when low latency audio feeds are needed.

  • First order virtual mic pattern decoding: cardioid through figure-8 (mono) and stereo X/Y to Blumlein (crossed fig-8)

Spatial Mic Converter

The Spatial Mic Converter plugin transforms the raw audio signals from Spatial Mic to first or second order ambisonics, surround sound (up to 7.1.4 ATMOS) or virtual mic patterns including mid-side for mono or stereo output. This is achieved with an internal 64-channel filter matrix and measurements from an anechoic chamber.

Spatial Mic Converter is available as VST3, AAX, and AU, and requires a host that supports multi-channel audio tracks such as Pyramix, Reaper, Pro Tools, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Cubase Pro, or Plogue Bidule.

With Spatial Mic Converter, you can change the microphone’s aim at the point in space where the audio was recorded. This is useful when aligning audio position with 360 video, aiming the mic at specific sounds that should be in front of the listener, or used in combination with the virtual mic output stage to focus directional polar patterns at different parts of the soundfield.

The ambisonic output can be sent to a variety of plugins from SSA, Blue Ripple Sound, IEM, SPARTA and others for further processing while mono or stereo outputs can be used with standard  audio production plugins. The surround outputs can be used as sound bed tracks in Dolby Atmos® sessions or routed directly to the surround bus of choice.
