Design

HAPI MkIII is the latest generation of the ever-popular HAPI network audio interface series. The perfect centerpiece of any demanding audio scenario, its best in class audio clarity makes it perfect for the studio, while the flexibility of audio over IP gives it a paramount edge for live stage use. Bundled with customisability to fit your needs.

Maintaining the same compact 1U size form factor as its predecessors, HAPI MkIII utilises RAVENNA/AES67 and DANTE compatibility to bring users a rock solid foundation to the benefits of audio over IP.

The HAPI MkIII has the flexibility to adapt to any studio workflow. Two modular slots allow for customisation of inputs and outputs; AD cards for Mic and Line inputs, DA cards for exceptionally clear analogue outputs, or digital MADI cards with 128 discrete digital channels.

Hapi MkIII Front and Back

Dante

New for the MKIII is Dante compatibility. This highly popular audio over IP standard adds the ability to interface with the thousands of other already existing Dante compatible devices on the market.

HAPI MkIII is Dante ready out of the box, making it the perfect addition to already networked systems. Users looking to expand into the Dante universe will need to purchase a license from Audinate.

*Two licenses are available, 16×16 I/O and 64×64 I/O.

RAVENNA and AES67

Using RAVENNA/AES67 audio over IP, the MkIII provides flexible connectivity of audio streams across any network. This makes it compatible with previously available off-the-shelf networking equipment.

Broadcast Standard Compliance

Merging follows the latest in AoIP developments, participating in international showcases and standardisation events. HAPI MkIII complies with the key broadcast requirements for network redundancy and discovery making it a rock-solid choice for your system.

Compatible with standards:

  • ST2110
  • ST2022-7
  • NMOS

Total remote control

The MkIII can be controlled from any web browser on MAC or PC, giving full access to all interface parameters and complete remote-control of its mic pre-amps.

Synchronise your Network

The MkIII can be synchronized to video input (black burst or trilevel HD), word clock, network (PTP), AES-EBU, ADAT, SPDIF, MADI or internal clock. It can also serve as an AoIP grandmaster (PTP).

MAD and VAD

With the HAPI MkIII users get access to the MAD (Merging Audio Device) and VAD (Virtual Audio Device) drivers. MAD is an all-in-one package that includes an updated multi-ASIO driver that allows different applications to run simultaneously sharing ASIO inputs and outputs. This is combined with compatibility for the official Microsoft WDM (Windows Driver Model) driver, allowing playback from applications such as Spotify, Tidal or YouTube at the same time as the DAW.

Analogue Expansion Cards

Hapi MkIII has space for two world class analogue input and output cards, fitted in blocks of 8, the unit can be customized to suit any studio application. Choose from Standard, 192kHz capable or Premium DXD/DSD capable cards to capture every sound in high quality detail and accuracy.

Both AD cards feature a direct output, which allows analogue mic/line signals to be routed directly after the mic preamp and sent to other devices, effectively functioning as a splitter. Ideal for sending feeds to monitor desks or secondary recording devices.

Note* The Hapi MkIII is only compatible with V3 cards.

The Ultimate Atmos 7.1.4 monitor controller

For Atmos or Spatial mixing combine the HAPI MkIII with Merging’s Anubis for seamless and flexible monitoring of 7.1.4 surround sound systems.

AV Installation with Ovation

Place HAPI MKIII units strategically around any AV installation to harness the flexibility and creativity of Merging’s industry standard multichannel show sequencer.

Card Compatibility

Analogue I/O V3 cards are compatible with the HAPI MkIII and MkII however not with the Horus or original HAPI.

The MADI128V3 card is only compatible with the HAPI MkIII and not with any older generation of Merging devices.
